The Union Ministry of Finance on 16 December 2013 approved the three proposals of different Ministries to utilise the Resources in the Nirbhaya Fund to Enhance the Safety and Security of Women in the country.

In the Union Budget speech on 28 Februry 2013, the Union Finance Minister P.Chidambaram had announced that the Government will set-up a Fund called the Nirbhaya Fund and contribute 1000 crore rupees to the Fund.

 केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्रालय ने 16 दिसंबर 2013 को विभिन्न मंत्रालयों के स्रोतों को महिलाओं की सुरक्षा से संबंधित निर्भय कोष में इस्तेमाल किये जाने के तीन प्रस्तावों को स्वीकृति प्रदान की. निर्भय कोष का इस्तेमाल देश में महिलाओं की सुरक्षा तथा बचाव हेतु उपयोग किया जाना है.

केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री पी चिदंबरम ने 28 फरवरी 2013 को अपने बजट भाषण में घोषणा की थी कि सरकार निर्भय कोष की स्थापना करेगी तथा इसके लिए 1000 करोड़ रुपये उपलब्ध कराने का प्रस्ताव रखा गया था.
