The National Green Tribunal has banned "unregulated open burning" of plastic, rubber or such other articles across the country. 

“All the plastic waste/scrap dealers and/or recyclers including the members of the PVC and Plastic Waste Dealers Association, respondent herein, shall be restrained from carrying on their business of segregation of plastic waste and its eventual transfer to recyclers or disposal contrary to and without registration under the Plastic Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011,” a bench headed by NGT chairperson justice Swatanter Kumar said.


राष्ट्रीय हरित न्यायाधिकरण (एनजीटी) ने देशभर में प्लास्टिक, रबड़ या इस तरह के सामान को ‘खुले में अनियमित रूप से जलाने’ पर 13 दिसंबर 2013 को प्रतिबंध लगा दिया.
राष्ट्रीय हरित न्यायाधिकरण (एनजीटी)  के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति स्वतंत्र कुमार की अध्यक्षता वाली पीठ ने निर्देश दिया कि अव्यवस्थित ढंग से प्लास्टिक, रबर व इस तरह के अन्य सामान को जलाने से वातावरण को काफी नुकसान पहुंचता है. इसलिए देश में कहीं भी ऐसा करने पर प्रतिबंध लगाया जाता है
